This painting is from my "Fencing Strip" series. I was at the 2006 Richmond
North American Cup (NAC) and was watching
Doris Willette fencing and just started sketching. All gold medal bouts at that NAC were fenced on
Strip 41. The action was so fast and this was a finals bout so it was really crowded among the spectators. All I really had room to do was a small sketch to capture some of the action.
Later I added the paint. Actually, I used my new set of watersoluble crayons...they are amazing!
